My daughter, who is almost 11 is having a bedroom make-over.  How excited was she to browse through hours of catalogues, Pinterest images (she has her own Pinterest!), and oodles of Ikea and Freedom Furniture aisles. I feel my husband's horrible lurgy coming on. He had the beginnings of a nasty chest infection last week end which gripped him fiercely by mid this week. After a few days off work, he is feeling a tad bit better although is still not his usual self yet. It's almost the end of the week and I just felt like doing something small. I think I will give this little guy (12 x 17cm),  as a Christmas gift to someone - not sure who yet. Someone who has a nice kitchen or dining room.

Here are a few quick abstract figure sketches that I worked up today as pre drawings. This is what I love to do...let myself go, and just draw. No finicky bits; just pure freedom in allowing the line to "happen" from a quick glance at the model, eluding thought.  Focusing on the figure, the faces are left un-rendered. My aim is to bring you to "feel" or to interpret/sense, the gesture or pose.

As you can see from the date within the signature on this piece, it is a work from last year. The ground is a beautiful 100% cotton rag cloth with a lovely rough tooth (grain/texture) to it. I work on such beautiful grounds as this in charcoal, paint and Conte'. The effect is always earthy and expressive.  Working in graphite leaves a completely different feeling and expression in the work as
